Towing Check List
- Ensure that all 12 volt lights inside of van are switched off
- Close all windows
- Close all roof hatches
- Safety catch on fridge
- Stove and sink lid closed
- Check all cupboards are packed and closed
- Remove everything off bench tops that is not screwed down
- Close, lock and put safety hook on door
- Turn gas bottle off
- Remove TV antenna (if applicable)
- Remove power connection 240 volt
- Wind up all corner jack stands
- Close front stone shield and secure
- Check tyre pressures
Hook Up
- Check towbar, bolts and or pins
- Connect caravan towbar on to vehicle
- Check coupling handle has gone fully down on the drawbar and make sure cables are lose
- Remove jockey wheel
- Hook up safety chains
- Connect 12 volt 7 pin plug to tow vehicle
- Connect hot wire for fridge
- Connect hitch to weight distribution bars (if applicable)
- Check all lights are working
- Make sure roll out awning is secure and the locking mechanism is locked (If applicable)
Hints
- After traveling 15 minutes or so, pull over where safe and check to see if everything is still in a secure position
- You should slide the manual over-ride button on your brake controller a few times when you start traveling. This will dislodge dirt and surface rust on the brake drums so that your brakes won’t grab on application
- When towing, your tow vehicle may require more pressure in the rear tyres, check your vehicles owner manual for directions.
- Ensure the van door is open when you lower or raise your poptop roof
